iittala - minimalist must get

In 1881, founded as a glass manufacturer by glass blowing craftsman Peter Magnus Abraham. Glass products born in Finnish wilderness have released a sparkling beauty and continue to make high quality products as glass manufacturers that still inherit that tradition and technology. In recent years iittala has been increasingly increasing the range of lineup as a comprehensive brand for tableware, not just glassware.

Ititara's founding is said to have been 1881 when Peter Magnus Abra Hammson founded a glass factory. At the beginning of the founding there was a shortage of skillful skilled glass craftsmen in Finland, and there was no choice but to depend on Sweden's labor force.

In 1917, it was acquired by the lumber company A · Ahlstrom owned by the Carrafa · Glass Factory, and the product was sold under the name of Calhura = Itrara until the 1950s. Originally, the Calhura = Iittala factory was mainly manufacturing bottles used for chemical experiments and lamp oils, but some of them also produced household goods.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Iittala expanded its business to ventures that will continue to produce household goods, as well as create more experimental and artistic products. In the first successful example there was Aino Aalto's glassware, afterward Alva Aalto's glassware also succeeded.

In the Second World War, during the winter war and the continuing war, Iittala stopped production due to lack of material and labor shortage, but resumed production in 1946. Then prosperous. When the oil crisis occurred in the mid-1970s, it again hindered manufacturing. The glassware market in Finland has increased competition with imported glassware from abroad.

In 1987, A · Ahlstrom sold Iittala to Wartila. Walchilla was the major shareholder of the Nutayarvy Glass Factory in Ulyala. Wertila merged Iittala and Nutayarvi, established Iittala Nutayarvi. In 1990 Iittala Nutayarvi is acquired by Huckmann. Huckman also bought other home wear manufacturers (Arabia, Roll Strand = Gustavsuberi) at the same time. In 2003, Hackmann was renamed Iittala. In 2004 it will be under the umbrella of ABN AMRO Capital. Since 2007, Fiscals has 97% shares of Ititara.
